SSF New Year’s Resolution – Get to Know Your Community

Jan 2, 2015 // Tracy Schwartz

It’s that time of year when everyone is talking about New Year’s Resolutions.

You know, that ideal mindset you have that this new year is going to be the best year EVER.  You’ll become more fit than an Athleta model, your career will be more successful than Taylor Swift’s latest album, everyone will be your BFF, you’ll call your mom once a week, oh and last but not least go on a strictly raw diet eating fruits and veggies that are grown no further that one mile from your house. Wow I’m exhausted just thinking of all of that.  So in 2015 we at SSF have decided to take babysteps.  Our resolution is to check out a local business, be it a restaurant, shop, salon, spa, etc at least twice a month and feature it on our blog.  If there are any businesses in Summit County you think deserve our attention let us know!  We challenge you to go out and get to know your local community/business owners as well.

Our first visit was to Montana’s Cantina at La Cima Mall in Breckenridge.  They’re offering up the freshest baja-style tacos and burritos around.  The day’s grub fest started out with their queso made fresh daily in-house with ooey gooey smoked gouda.  Definitely not your run of the mill bland cheese sauce that came out of a gallon sized can.  All I can say is it went down quite easily and could have been a meal in and of itself.  The main affair was their mahi grilled tacos with chile sauce, guacamole, cabbage, pickled onion, cotija cheese and jalapeno aioli.  Three street tacos were stuffed with decent sized hunks of mahi, all of the toppings and served with black beans and rice.  After inhaling all three I was happily satiated.  Oh and a choice of one of their 5 salsas, the recommended was mango-habenero and was perfectly spicy.  All in all it was a great visit and we can’t wait to go back to try out their burritos, specialty cocktails, veggie green chili….oh the list goes on.

Check out Montana Cantina’s website and their Happy Hour 2-5 daily.
